Want to Earn a Little More Cash?
By Risa Lynn
Hey, guys and gals, gather around. I’m going to let you in on a little secret of mine. Do you ever wish you had just a few more dollars to buy that bag or those shoes? Yeah, me, too. That’s why I do transcription on the side.
What’s transcription, you ask? Well, let me tell you. Transcription is when you listen to audio files and type out what they’re saying. Sometimes you type it out word for word, and sometimes you do a clean version and take out the ‘ums’ and ‘uhs’.
Are you a fairly quick typist? Is your grasp on the English language (or whatever particular language you qualify for–to be explained later) and its’ grammar excellent? Do you have the ability to patiently do repetitive actions for a while? Then transcription may be the answer for you!
TranscribeMe! offers freelance transcription files that are perfect for beginners! They have files that are anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 minutes long. These are perfect for you to get some good experience with. The more you do, the quicker you get.
TranscribeMe! also offers a variety of languages that you can transcribe in such as Spanish, Chinese, and a few others. If you have an ear for several different accents, you can take a test to work with those accents, as well. Do you have medical knowledge? Perfect! You can transcribe medical files, as well. Also, once you get some experience under your belt and a good grasp for the TM Style Guide, you can apply to be a QA (proofreading the general files) and earn more.
The going rate for a general transcriptionist is $20/audio hour. Depending on the difficulty of the file, it could take a few minutes per file to transcribe accurately, so you’ll be working for longer than an hour to get the $20/audio hour pay out. Once you reach a certain amount, you’ll be able to withdraw the money to your PayPal account and form there you can shop online or deposit the money to your bank account.
You’ll have to take a short transcription assessment when you join and apply, but once you pass that, you’ll be able to start working fairly soon! TranscribeMe! also has a wonderful online community that you can join for when you have questions about a file, the Style Guide, or even just want to talk to someone.
Does this all sound like it might be a great fit for you? Then hop on over and visit us at transcribeme.com! Don’t miss out on the fun opportunity to earn a little money!
