Under the Surface by Jaye Cox

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review as part of #quirkyblinddate.

Under the Surface (Love is Not Enough book two)

Jaye Cox

Ruby is running from her past when she runs into Dex. Dex is a widower and single father who does whatever he can to stop the constant pain. They agree to just friendship, but the sexual attraction is beyond noticeable, and they just can’t get away from one another.

When they decide to take a chance, will their pasts cause it to crash and burn? Ruby is still haunted by her childhood and inability to trust and let others in. Dex is still in love with his late wife. Can they fight through the pain?

Standalone contemporary romance with a HEA. Mature audiences only.

Ruby and Dex are both so flawed, and they’re actually both pretty infuriating at times! (In a good way) They’re both stubborn, and Ruby refuses to give into her attraction for him. Then they both run when feelings come into play.

The ending, though. That was one for a fairytale. I LOVED Ruby’s epilogue. I was definitely crying fat, sappy tears by the end.

I think this book had one of the best endings I’ve ever read. Definitely will be reading this again.

5/5 stars
